Less pain, less bleeding, reduced swelling and infection, and a quicker return to normal activities! Because it also seals small blood vessels, there is less bleeding and surgery can often be completed more quickly.

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We employ trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the client.
Sometimes, it seems some patients only desire is to be as close to human as possible, as shown here by Apollo. | View |
DENTAL CARE | Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Advanced dental care is available, including root canals, caps and braces. | View |
DERMATOLOGY Dermatological cases can be very difficult to diagnose and treat. The medical staff at Tri County Animal Hospital prides itself on extensive client education in this field. We have been very fortunate with our success in treatment of various skin disorders. | View |

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY Tri-County Animal Hospital is pleased to serve our community. Our doctors are proud to assist the St. Lucie County Humane Society to provide surgical and medical staff for the shelter, as well as occasional adoption services which are also offered. TCAH provides service to our local police force K-9 officers, and currently works closely with the state agricultural response team in the event of any disaster. |

Surgical services and facilities include: board certified surgeon available for consultation; fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing. |
SPECIALIZED SURGERY Our veterinary surgeons are available for many different specialized surgeries. These surgeries include luxating patella repair, ruptured cruciate ligament repair, femoral head ostectomy, entropion and ectropion repair, fracture repair, splenectomy, gastroplexy and exploratory surgery. Here is a short explanation of some of these surgeries:
Luxating patella is a very painful condition in which the patella, or kneecap, luxates, or moves out of place. It is caused by genetics most often, but can sometimes be due to a traumatic injury. Our veterinarians have the knowledge and experience to repair this condition. Just ask our employee Grace, whose Rat Terrier Cody is now 110% thanks to the TCAH team!
Cruciate ligament tears are very common in humans, as well as pets. A tear is usually caused when a pet overexerts itself in play or exercise. The cruciate ligament connects the tibia to the femur behind and in front of the knee. Usually a pet who has torn its cruciate ligament is in such pain that they cannot stand to put any weight on the injured leg. Lisa P., our inventory manager, has a hound who injured his cruciate ligament a few years ago. Copper is fine now, thanks to a repair by Tri County veterinarians.
Fractures in pet’s bones are unfortunate to see, but our surgeons can bring relief with surgical repair and our high level of pain management. Moe, seen at the left, presented to our hospital with multiple fractures. He healed quickly due to his young age, and is doing quite well in his new home. Pictured to the right is Willy, whose femur was broken. Thanks to the Tri County veterinarians, Willy is now able to get around without any pain or apparatus; he has made a full recovery. | View |
ULTRASOUND To better diagnose pets with internal illnesses, Tri County Animal Hospital now offers ultrasonography. We also enjoy the opportunity to share pet pregnancy with owners thanks to our ultrasound! | View |
BIRDS, REPTILES, RABBITS AND SMALL MAMMALS Veterinary medicine for exotic pets is growing as the popularity of these animals increase. With better public education in health, nutritional and environmental management, all species have a greater chance for living longer and healthier lives. We employ staff veterinarians who possess experience in the care and treatments of exotics. | View |
